Senior Football League
Our senior men came away from McGee Park on Saturday evening with a share of the spoils after a hard fought but deserved draw against last year’s Championship finalists Colmcille. Slashers led by 2 points at the break, having played against a strong wind, the lead was then extended to 5 early in the second half. Colmcille then hit a purple patch, helped by a few sloppy mistakes and they hit the front to lead by 3 with time almost up. A last gasp goal levelled matters and sent the good Slashers support home happy. The game was particularly significant for our Club, as Desmond Akenbor started the game at cornerback, his first appearance with our senior first team and he becomes the first player of African heritage to do so. Well done Desmond.

Next up is away to Granard on Saturday 12th April at 7pm. We hope to see another big turnout to support the lads.

Ladies
Well done to our Senior Ladies and management who got their 3rd win in the Gold Cup last weekend at home to Killoe Ladies.

The match finished 1-8 to 2-3 with Grace Shannon scoring our goal.

Minor Club
U-15 Féile
The club hosted 6 teams for Feile last week, with our U15 boys winning their two games and progressing to the semi-final. After beating Killoe in the semi final, they moved on to the final against Colmcille. Our lads were down by 9 in the first half but managed to claw their way back into the game and won by a point with a goal scored by Christian Ogungbe with the last kick of the game. They now progress to the regional finals. Well done to this fantastic bunch of lads, and well done to the management team of Gavin Trappe, Eamonn Seoige and Martin Glennon.
