Senior Football
There was a busy weekend of action last weekend with both Senior and Junior mens squads involved in crunch Championship encounters. Our Seniors were first up on Friday evening where they had a great win over Kenagh to secure our place in the senior Championship 2025.

The seniors now prepare for the delayed replay of the Div 1 relegation semi final against Dromard. This is to be played this Friday 4th Oct at 8pm with the venue down as Mullahoran.

On Saturday last, our Juniors were in Pearse Park for the Junior A Championship semi final Vs Killoe. The lads managed to book their place in the final with a hard-fought 1-10 to 1-9 victory. In a dramatic contest, Slashers had to withstand late pressure from Killoe to emerge victorious by the narrowest of margins. Slashers struck first blood through Ryan McGoey (photoed above, courtesy of Syl Healy), who netted an early goal to give us the lead. However, Killoe responded well with a number of points and Shane Thompson finding the net towards the end of the half. After an end to end half, Killoe went in at the break with a three point lead (1-7 to 1-4).

Slashers came out strong after the break, with Diarmuid Sheahans accuracy from dead balls and open play crucial in the second half resurgence. Slashers reeled off six points in the second half while limiting Killoe to just two. The defensive unit stepped up in the final quarter, shutting out Killoe’s attacking efforts as they sought a way back into the game. Despite intense pressure in the closing stages, Slashers stood firm to see out the victory.
With this win, the Juniors now look ahead to the county final and a chance to win a championship for the first time since 2014. We face local rivals Grattans in Pearse Park on the 13th of October at 12.00pm.

Ladies
Best of luck to the ladies who prepare for their 6th consecutive senior championship final. They face off against Clonguish this Saturday, 5th October at 3pm in Pearse Park. Make sure to head down and show your support!

A special mention also to Clare Farrell who made headlines this week as she started a new role as lead performance nutritionist at Liverpool FC, an amazing achievement, well done Clare!

Minors
Commiserations to our minor squad and management team who lost out to a strong Southern Gaels side on Tuesday evening in the Minor B Cup.
