Our senior team welcomed Rathcline to Michael Fay Park on Friday evening for Round 8 of the Division 1 league. Slashers got off to a flying start, netting two early goals to take control of the contest. By half-time, the lads had built a commanding lead, going in 3-07 to 0-07 ahead.
Rathcline came out fighting in the second half and mounted a spirited comeback, but Slashers kept the scoreboard ticking with well-taken points to maintain their advantage. In the end, our seniors held firm to claim a hard-fought and deserved win on a final scoreline of 3-14 to 2-15.
Meanwhile, our junior team travelled to Ardagh on Sunday afternoon to take on Legan in Round 4 of the Division 3 league. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, Slashers created several chances but couldn’t convert, while Legan were clinical on the break, bagging a goal. The hosts led 1-08 to 0-07 at the break. Despite a determined effort in the second half, Legan pushed on with two more goals, running out winners on a scoreline of 3-15 to 1-10.
