Both our Div 1 and Div 3 sides were in action in Michael Fay park last week. The Juniors were first up on Thursday evening against Colmcille. In a tight first half, Slashers mostly led after scoring two counterattacking goals. However a penalty for Colmcille just before half time brought the sides level at 2-1 each. Despite a positive start to the second half, our lads never got the scoreboard working and Colmcille pulled away with a number of goals late in the half.
The following evening, Friday, our seniors were up against Mostrim and followed up the win against Mullinalaghta with another very positive result. The first half was relatively close with Slashers taking a two point lead at 0-5 to 0-3. In a very positive second half performance, our lads defended well while keeping the scoreboard ticking over and pushed on for the win. Final score of 1-11 to 0-4.
Both sides are playing again this week, with Granard the opponents in both games. The Juniors are in Div 3 action on Wednesday night at 8pm in Granard. The Seniors are then at home on Saturday night, 15th June at 7pm.
As always, we'd love to see a big turnout to cheer on the lads.
County Minors
Hard luck to the county minors who lost out to a strong Armagh side in the the Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor Football Quarter-Final on Saturday last. Well done again to Slashers players James Shannon, Finn Neary and Billy Maguire.
