Longford Minors - Leinster Champions 2024
From all at Longford Slashers we would like to congratulate the fantastic Longford minor footballers, champions of Leinster 2024 after beating Dublin last night. A special mention to our own lads Finn Neary, James Shannon and Billy Maguire. What an amazing performance and boost for Longford GAA, well done lads and best of luck for the remainder of the season💪💙
Senior Football
The seniors had a break from Div 1 action this weekend, with their next game this Wednesday evening, 22nd May at 7.30pm against Carrickedmond in Michael Fay Park. We'd love to see a big home turnout to cheer on the lads.
The Juniors took on Killoe on Saturday evening last in Div 3. This was a very entertaining game with the lead changing hands throughout. With very little between the sides, things were level at half time at seven points a piece. The second half continued in a similar vein, with both sides trading points. That trend was broken when Killoe responded first to a ball off the post and finished to the net. Slashers battled back, and with a few minutes to go were leading by a point. Killoe then hit on a counterattack, and finished well to the top of the net. That would be enough for the home side to get the win on a final score of Killoe 2-12 to Slashers 0-16. This side now have a small break, and will be back in action on Thursday 6th June, 7.30pm at home against Colmcille.
Training continues on Tuesday and Friday evenings, with Junior players and new or returning players always welcome.

Preparations are underway for the 2024 Golf Classic, which will take place in County Longford Golf Club on 22nd June. The poster has now been shared on Clubzap and social media and the link is open for booking a tee time or sponsoring a tee or green. We thank everyone for their support in this crucial fundraiser for the club. Make sure to book your slot now and don't miss what promises to be another great day out!
Set Dancing
Georgina Hourican is organising set dancing classes for boys and girls 1st - 6th Class in the Slashers clubhouse. The classes continue every Tuesday from 5.30-6.30pm. €3 entry, all are welcome.
Minor Club Table Quiz
Thanks to all who supported the inaugural minor Family Fun Quiz on Friday evening last. Thanks to all the grandparents, great neighbours, friends, parents, teenagers, toddlers and kids who came along. Thanks to all the volunteers Maria, Aoibhinn, Ava, Deireen, Niamh & Georgina. To Luke on our scores and to our dynamic duo Melanie & Ger for such a lovely fun and uplifting night.
